events Lead

Our Operations Team is growing and needs your help! With the support of a dedicated volunteer we can throw memorable events that make a real difference for our young people.

The Details

Feeling Strong is an exciting new Dundee based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health conditions by fostering the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to flourish. We deliver services and activity in the community to provide opportunities for our service users in the areas of lobbying, skills development and service co-production.

We are at an early stage of development, but have received start-up funding and are delivering two projects on behalf of young people with mental health issues in Dundee. We have two more projects ready to start pending funding. Feeling Strong is committed to treating volunteers fairly, and will be seeking Volunteer Friendly Award accreditation at the earliest opportunity.

Your Commitment

In this role you are asked to support Feeling Strong in hosting worthwhile, accessible and successful events to benefit young people with mental health conditions, increase our profile and raise funds. This is often done remotely and at your own pace (but can also require meeting with young people at set times), when you can spare time to be involved, however we are looking for committed individuals. Also, as a member of the Operations Team, you may be asked to help with the organisation of the charities' other activities on occasion. The Operations Team meet 6 times a year, for hour long meetings, rotating between the days of the week.

Any travels costs will be reimbursed.

Basic training and a volunteer induction will be provided, but we would particularly welcome volunteers with skills in Event Management, Project Management and knowledge of the local hospitality sector. We would also encourage candidates who have either lived experience of mental health conditions, are the parent of a young person with mental health conditions or are a young person who have lived experience of mental health conditions to apply.

To apply for this opportunity please send a copy of your C.V. with a short supporting statement to and we'll get back to you within a week for an informal chat - we’ll treat you to a coffee! Please read the Volunteer Role Profile attached below for further information and if you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

The closing date for applications is 31/08/2018.
