Feeling Strong Champions

This programme is delivered in schools and up-skills students to be champions of mental health; encouraging the support of other students and develops the ability of the participants to provide support. Students are taught how to sensitively discuss mental health and wellbeing challenges, how to signpost anyone who is struggling with their mental health to relevant organisations and also encourages initiative to make schools a safe environment where discussion of mental health and wellbeing challenges is encouraged. The programme is delivered through six one hour sessions and covers:

  • General mental health challenges

  • The concept of peer support and how to be a peer supporter

  • Self-help methods and how to actively integrate these into our lives to support positive mental health and wellbeing and

  • Identifying the symptoms and signs of others struggling with their mental health and wellbeing
