LEARNING & Skills
leveling the playing field
Young people with mental health and wellbeing challenges have some of the lowest access rates to higher/further education and skilled employment. We're here to tackle exactly that.
We believe that our young people are just as capable if properly supported
We believe that everyone should have the chance to flourish in work by receiving the proper support from their employers
We believe that everyone should have fair access to ongoing education, regardless of their background
We have a forward thinking and growth mindset focused approach to our Employability & Skills work. Our aim is to help young people access positive destinations which is tailored to the individual, to empower them to achieve their goals and flourish. By working with our partners and ensuring our services are widely known and available, we can make a true difference to the lives of our young people and help them to access more positive destinations like work or education. A core belief of Feeling Strong is that through skills development, mentoring and confidence building our young people can achieve incredible things when properly supported.

‘Rise Up’ was a project where young people aged 12-17 had the opportunity to boost their confidence and enhance their skills in art and leisure-based activities. They also had the opportunity to engage with professionals who have an established career on a 1-2-1 basis. Young people had the chance to connect with professionals and build a network among organisations across the city.
As part of the Art Stream, we had a unique class with Mr Drew Photography, Dundee Ceramics Studios gave us Clay Kits to explore ceramic techniques, we visited many galleries across Dundee, and had workshops within our activity room for young people to develop their artistic practice.
The Explore Stream was the opportunity to discover new hobbies; such as video gaming, hiking, trampolining, football, treasure hunting, stargazing, and rock climbing. Young people had the chance to work as a team and build new friendships with like-minded people, and chat to professionals about pursuing the activity further.
