RECOVERY & SuPPORT COORDINATOR
We're looking for a motivated self-starter to lead our work supporting the positive recovery journeys of young people who face mental health and wellbeing challenges in Dundee. In this role you will explore how methods such as art, music and other creative outlets can promote better outcomes for our young people. We are looking for someone who will coordinate and lead on our weekly creative Hub Night activities, oversee projects and events, and coach project staff and volunteers. In this role, you will coordinate Feeling Strong's case load, referral pathways and facilities whilst working with other staff members, volunteers and partner organisations to promote better outcomes for our young people.
This is a part-time role (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week, £28,000 FTE) and fixed-term for 12 months, funded by The National Lottery and The Volant Trust.
This post is based at Feeling Strong, Block 5, 2 Seabraes Lane, Dundee, DD1 4NX, however the post holder will be expected to attend meetings and events across Dundee.

who are feeling strong?
Feeling Strong exists to make sure that every young person in Dundee, who has experienced a mental health or wellbeing challenge, is supported to reach their full potential. We deliver projects, services and campaigns in the community to tackle stigma, build confidence, develop resources, create networks and most importantly support the positive recovery journey of our young people. Our services are designed by young people, delivered by young people, and for young people - we believe that this youth-led/peer-led approach is our biggest asset in tackling issues around mental health and wellbeing.
what would my role be?
We're looking for a member of staff to lead on delivering the Recovery & Support workstream to provide projects and services for young people with mental health and wellbeing challenges, and someone who is responsible for the development, administration and running of the workstream. Our Hub Nights run Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 4:30pm - 6pm, therefore you are expected to be available during these days and times. The post holder will have the exciting opportunity to creatively run this service, making links with third-sector organisations and services across Dundee. You will be running groups with young people and be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers, including handling trainings and inductions. You will also be responsible for monitoring and carrying out reporting and evaluations for your workstream and Feeling Strong, to funders and the Feeling Strong Trustee Board.
You will also be expected to attend meetings and events at the Feeling Strong Hub, and across our Dundee community. Work-related travel costs will be reimbursed.
Training and induction will be provided, but we are looking for candidates to demonstrate intermediate skills, experience or knowledge of:
Understanding the mental health and wellbeing challenges young people face
Experience of youth or mental health work, especially in one-on-one settings
Basic skills in running activities, marketing and administration
Creative skills with a love for art and other creative outlets
Experience working with case loads and referral pathways
Ability to confidently use office software such as mail, calendar and spreadsheets
Good standards of written and verbal communication
Training in Mental Health, Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention, Coordinating Volunteers
And, whilst not essential, we would also welcome candidates with skills, experience or knowledge of the following:
Using art as a therapeutic tool
Working in a mental health or youth work environment
Working in the third sector
Experience of recruiting and training staff or volunteers
Experience applying for, and working with, funding trusts and organisations
