what we do, and how we do it
At Feeling Strong, we run a number of projects and services under four different categories, click on the links to find out more about each stream of work:
Our young people are the ones who lead the change we want to make in Dundee - we facilitate and support them to develop informative and challenging campaigns to raise awareness, as well as create opportunities for them to speak to high level decision makers to share their experiences and make a change.
We believe one of the biggest barriers young people with mental health challenges face in accessing positive destinations is confidence. We use confidence, skills and aspiration building programmes, and activities such as job shadowing and placements, to support our young people to develop the skills they need to enter positive destinations.
Creating resources and innovative projects that address the idiosyncratic needs of our young people, working with young people to develop those resources, building a cross-platform range of resources which support positive recovery and self-care and utilising media such as games, film and music to share the lived experience of young people here in Dundee.
We support our communities to become better informed, empowered and suicide safe. We do this by delivering mental health and suicide prevention training, developing mental health peer supporters in secondary schools, working with employers to better support young people, and acting as a central point of referral at our Community Hub.
